We’ve not always been impressed with the design of MegaWays slots (yes, we’re looking at you Dragon Born) but Buffalo Rising MegaWays is very easy on the senses. Set against a canyon backdrop the reels feature A to 9 royal values plus elks, wolves and brown bears. The best standard symbol is the buffalo which pays 1, 2, 10, 25 or 50 times your stake if you land 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 on adjacent reels on the same spin. There’s also a wild.
Look out too for the landscape scene. All instances of this symbol that hit transform into the same symbol. This can include the wild but not the scatter. This is known as the Mystery Symbol feature.
After a winner hits, a reaction takes place and the successful symbols are blasted away. New symbols drop in and replace them. These reactions keep on coming as long as a new winning combination is created. The number of positions on each reel varies with each spin. At its maximum configuration there will be 117,649 ways to win.
The diamond is the scatter. Land 4 or more of these on the same spin and you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature. You’ll then be offered a selection of free spin and multiplier combinations. In all cases, the multiplier increases by 1 following a symbol drop reaction win. Your choices are:
- 15 free spins with the multiplier starting at 1x
- 10 free spins with the multiplier starting at 5x
- 5 free spins with the multiplier starting at 10x
- You can also opt for the Mystery Choice which awards a random number of free spins and starting multiplier.
You’ll also have the chance to buy your way into the Free Spins feature if you wish – this will set you back 100 times your total stake.
We found Buffalo Rising MegaWays to be the best of the MegaWays slots. The visuals are a step above the others and the haunting soundtrack is a good fit for the theme. The MegaWays game engine delivers plenty of action as usual. That action can be pretty feisty too. The variance here is in the medium to high range with maximum wins of 10,000 times your stake on every free spin.
The MegaWays game engine isn’t to all tastes. If you do like the varied action it can offer, then Buffalo Rising MegaWays is certainly worth a look.
