Sidewinder is brought to you by Just For The Win and Microgaming and comes with 5 reels and between 243 and 1,125 ways to win. With a classic theme, it uses a Sidewinder feature found in Rainbrew – available to play on all devices from 10p to £100 per spin, horizontal reels filled with wilds increase the number of ways to win. You can also benefit from a Free Spins feature where wilds connect to give you expanding wilds.

Visually, Sidewinder has a classic feel to it – saying that, it is played on a modern 3x5x5x5x3 reel set where you begin with 243 ways to win. With a retro look and 8-bit graphics, symbols on the reels include stars, spades, clubs, diamonds and hearts. You will also see Bars, 4-leaf clovers, horseshoes, golden bells and lucky red 7s. The latter is the most valuable with 8 times your stake available if you get 5 in combination.

As with Rainbrew, there are 3 wild symbols – you have the regular wild, top wild and bottom wild. They perform the usual functions like replace all symbols except the scatter (Sidewinder logo). You will only see the regular wild on horizontal reels with the top wild appearing on reel 2 and the bottom wild appearing on reel 4.

It’s all about the Sidewinder feature which can be triggered when the top wild triggers the top horizontal reel and/or the bottom wild triggers the bottom horizontal reel. You will then play with 576 ways to win with 1 horizontal reel activated – if you have 2 in play, you’ll play with 1,125 ways to win. As a result, there are more possibilities to win.

Sidewinder comes with a Free Spins feature which is triggered when 3 or 4 Sidewinder scatters appear on reels 2, 4 and the horizontal reels – you will then get 6 or 10 free spins. Now both wild and Sidewinder scatters appear on the 2 horizontal reels – if a wild stops on the same position on both horizontal reels, they connect to create an expanding wild. You’ll also get 1 more free spin for every Sidewinder scatter that appears on the horizontal reels.

Basically, it’s a bit of a cop-out by Just For The Win as it’s identical to Rainbrew – the only difference is the theme. Saying that you can win 2,720 times your stake on every free spin which will be boosted if you get 3 fully wild reels. I do prefer Rainbrew as the Irish luck theme is better than a classic/8-bit version in my opinion.
